Frequently asked questions

I use force-free, reward-based training methods that are supported by modern behavioural science. Training focuses on rewarding desired behaviours, building confidence, and strengthening the relationship between you and your dog. I do not use punishment, intimidation, or aversive training techniques.
Force-free training means teaching dogs without the use of fear, pain, or intimidation. Instead, we encourage and reward behaviours we want to see, creating a positive learning environment where dogs feel safe, motivated, and confident.
I work with dogs of all ages, including puppies, adolescent dogs, and adults. Whether you’re giving your puppy the best start in life or addressing behaviours in an older dog, training can be tailored to suit your dog’s individual needs.
I can help with a wide range of training and behaviour needs, including:
- Puppy training and socialisation
- Recall training
- Loose-lead walking
- Jumping up
- Excessive barking
- General obedience and manners
- Focus and engagement
- Confidence building
- Reactivity towards dogs, people, or environments
- Settling calmly at home and in public
If you’re unsure whether I can help with a particular issue, please get in touch to discuss your situation.
Training is carried out in real-world environments where your dog will use their skills in everyday life. Depending on your goals, sessions may take place at your home, local parks, public spaces, or other suitable locations.
Most one-to-one training sessions last approximately 60 minutes, although this may vary depending on your dog’s age, needs, and the training package selected.
Every dog is different, so there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some training goals can be achieved in just a few sessions, while more complex behavioural issues may require ongoing support. Following an initial assessment, I will recommend a suitable training plan.
Yes. Puppy training is one of my specialist areas. Early training is essential for developing good habits, building confidence, and preventing unwanted behaviours from becoming established. I can help with toilet training, puppy biting, recall, lead walking, socialisation, and more.
Yes. Training doesn’t stop when the session ends. Ongoing guidance and support are provided to help you stay on track and get the most from your training programme.
While I cannot guarantee specific outcomes, I can guarantee that I will provide professional guidance, effective training methods, and ongoing support. Success depends on several factors, including consistency, practice, and your dog’s individual temperament and history.
ost sessions, you’ll need:
- Your dog’s regular lead and collar or harness
- Plenty of small, tasty treats
- A favourite toy (if your dog enjoys toys)
- Poo bags
- Water for your dog if training outdoors
Specific recommendations will be provided before your session if required.
Absolutely not. Dogs can learn throughout their lives. While puppies often learn quickly, adult and senior dogs are equally capable of developing new skills and behaviours with the right training approach.
Booking is simple. You can get in touch via the contact form, email, or telephone to discuss your training needs. I’ll be happy to answer any questions and recommend the most suitable training option for you and your dog.
